The 2010 AMA Motocross Lites Championship would come down to the final motos of the year at the brand new Pala Raceway in San Diego, CA. Former MX World Champ and SX Lites Champ Christophe Pourcel led former SX Lites Champ Trey Canard by seven points heading into the final round.
Canard started the first moto trailing Pourcel, but put a pass on him only to lose the position as Pourcel passed him right back. As Canard attempted another pass on Pourcel he lost his front end in a tight corner and went down. Trey would get going again in eighth position while Pourcel moved into third.
Just when it seemed the championship was over, Pourcel went down and dislocated his shoulder. Christophe was unable to finish the first moto and would not race moto two, effectively giving Trey Canard the points needed to secure the championship.

Canard will now set his sights on helping Team U.S.A. in their efforts to defend the Motocross Of Nations title later this month.
